Southwest discriminated against me and the flight attendant purposely called out my race thinking he was funny. What does Southwest do? Claim they sent me a $100 voucher and when I try to follow up on it, they give me a snarky remark in which they probably should have just told me "we didn't have to do anything for you". I reported it with Department of Transportation in which they have to reply - they do and it seems more genuine however, I call the lady who sent it (it was No Reply email of course) and still have not gotten a call back. Needless to say - still no voucher, still Southwest does not care.

Worst customer service! Purchased an e-pass in a charity auction. No expiration date. When we attempted to use it we were informed that Southwest had an expiration date for it and (surprise) that expiration date had passed and they make no exceptions. Why do they not write the expiration date on the e-pass? My husband was told by their "customer service" representative that they were "too busy." Really! That's what he said! Multiple "customer service" representatives have verified that they will do nothing. #southwestsucks

What a horrible airline. They let people preboard when they clearly have no disability that prevents them from boarding on the normal process. That would be fine on other airlines but when you have open seating and I get on my plane after paying for Business Select, I'm A-1 and these other F&*$WADS are there sitting in rows 2-6, it pisses me off. Then I find out that their mobile is broken and 90% of the time doesn't show the free drink ticket and the flight attendant is too busy to look at the flight manifest to see I am due a free drink, then I say SOUTHWEST SUCKS.

I recently travelled out of Boston on Monday, Sept 9th when SW experienced some type of IT problem. I am a weekly traveler on SW and even know a few of the agents by name in Boston. What I witnessed was utter chaos. As an A List flyer the agent working the terminal walked off on break even though we were 10 deep In the line. Paper tickets were issued and there was no advice or guidance about holding flights. If I had not known my way around Logan I would have missed my flight. SW you greatly missed an opportunity to take care of your customers. Espeuthise who fly on a regular basis. Exceptionally disappointed and will call customer service for a refund or credit.

I'd like to take a moment to tell you about why #SouthwestSucks.

Now, I have to admit up front that I usually fly JetBlue and I even have a rewards card with them. They're definitely the best, and the only reason we didn't fly them this time is that it would have been slightly more expensive and our final destination wasn't on their routes. We wanted to go from Dallas to Cleveland and, with JetBlue, we would've had to pay more to fly to Boston and then from Boston to Cleveland. Instead, we cheaped out with a second-rate airline that still wasn't direct, and we paid for it. Lesson learned: you get what you pay for. Now let me elaborate further.

Right off the bat, when it was time to board in Dallas, we waited for Family Boarding to be called. It was myself, my wife, and our 2-year-old during this trip. When Family Boarding was called, we stepped forward, only to be told by the gate attendant that we were cutting other people in line. My wife apologized and looked around, confused, and willing to step back if that was the case. The attendant just waved us through anyway. No idea how we cut anyone, because she didn't really provide us with further information -- a recurring theme for Southwest, it would appear.

Anyway, we boarded the plane, which was heading for Atlanta. It had already been delayed, but we had have a two and a half hour layover before continuing on to Cleveland so it wasn't a big deal (yet). We found some seats, and waited. And waited. And waited some more. We were on the tarmac and all that we were told was that there were other planes ahead of us. No problem, that happens. Except we sat in place, not moving at all, for at least an hour, and probably closer to 90 minutes. When we finally moved, no update, just "Oh, okay, we're finally moving and it looks like we're taking off now" among our family. In the end, the delay took so long that we we spent the majority of the flight trying to figure out what we would do if we got to Atlanta and missed our connecting flight. Additionally, we learned that the "Onboard Wi-Fi" that is prominently displayed on all their signage is some straight-up clickbait BS. You can get free texting on Whatsapp, or watch movies/TV in their own app, but not actual wi-fi beyond those restrictions unless you pay an additional $8 fee. Keep this in mind for later.

We finally landed in Atlanta and ran off the plane. Thankfully, our connecting flight's gate was directly across from the gate we were exiting. They were done boarding, in that nobody was even in the terminal there, but a lady saw us and waved us through. We probably made it on with mere seconds to spare. And, because of Southwest's ridiculous policy of no assigned seats (ie "every man for themselves"), our family had to be separated, so my wife was stuck by herself with a 2-year-old that'd had enough and should've been in bed by that time. But hey, who cares about actual timing of flights on our end to coincide with such notions as toddler schedules and so forth, right?


Let's now jump to the return trip home. We had a flight leaving Cleveland at 9am, with a connecting flight in St. Louis at 1150am. Well, we get on the plane, find some seats, and then our names are called. We raise our hand and some guy comes up to us and hands us three new plane tickets, telling us that our 1150am flight has been cancelled and we've been rebooked for a 4pm flight out instead. No discussion, no looking at other options, just "your flight is cancelled, here's your new tickets," and he was a ghost.
So we try to make the best of it. We rent a car, go see a bit of St. Louis while we wait out the afternoon. We eventually return the car, take a shuttle to the airport, go through security, get to our gate, and board our plane. Finally, we get to go home! The plane makes its way along the runway, and then it stops. A few minutes pass, and someone gets on the intercom to tell us that they've noticed a technical issue with the plane and are trying to see what they can do. That doesn't sound too good of a situation, but we sit and wait. And wait some more. Here we are yet again!
The same person updates us by telling us they are trying to see what they can do, and are in touch with Dallas. Nobody around us on the plane has any idea what that even means. That's not an update, it gives no useful information, and it hardly even correlates to the earlier message of "something's wrong with this plane, maybe" as a follow-up. We heard that "update" more than once, in fact, and it would get peppered with such other things as "we'll also try to see what we can do for you folks going to San Antonio."
At this point, we're pretty livid, because it sounds like who knows what is happening. The lady finally gets on the intercom and tells us all that the plane is heading back to the gate and that everyone will have to get off it and onto a new plane. She tells us she's not sure who is going where from here, but to check in with customer service in the airport for further information. So we get off, angry, and learn that our new flight out is at 7pm. It's 530pm by this point which means we have another 90 minutes. It also means that that's how long we spent sitting on the plane just to have to get off of it again. Oh, and the departing gate for us has been changed to be across the entire airport at a completely different gate, too.

Eventually we get back on this new plane and we actually take off, with the same crew as before, finally landing in Dallas. When we get there, we head to the baggage claim office. You see, we had a car seat way back in Cleveland that we gate-checked with the understanding that we'd pick it up in Dallas again. We'd done the same thing when going from Dallas to Cleveland, and we actually got it there, too. We've done the same thing countless times when traveling, and it's pretty convenient. Except that, this time, when we picked it up in the office almost 12 hours after our first flight had left Cleveland, our car seat travel cart that was in the gate check bag along with the car seat was broken. This has never happened to us in any other flights, but seemed par for the course for our Southwest experience. So my wife asks for a claims form, only to be told that they don't cover anything damaged outside of a suitcae that's been gate-checked. Even though it's in a gate-check bag and the thing is made of metal, so someone would have had to literally thrown down the cargo for it to snap and break like it had. Great job, Southwest!

As a final note, I want to point out that at no point in any of the above was there some form of simple and basic compensation offered up. What I meam by this is this: as a frequent flier of JetBlue, if they are so much as late in taking off, they give their pay-per-view movies away to everyone on board the plane as a courtesy and means of apology. Rather simple but effective. "Well, this sucks but at least I can watch a free movie," of which there is usually three or more to choose from. Conversely, Southwest did no such thing; the most simple thing they could've done would be to enable in-flight WiFi (the real deal) for free. Instead, the same flight crew from the earlier flight explained (again) how WiFi was $8 to us all again. Just no concept of how ridiculous that was at that time and place, given the circumstances.

By the time we got home, it was 13 hours since our first flight had left Cleveland. An entire day was wasted with SEVEN EXTRA HOURS thanks to Southwest delays due to technical issues. Our two-year-old was all kinds of out of sorts from the experience, and plans we had for that evening had to be cancelled entirely.
After enduring all of these issues, I really regret choosing Southwest, and realize I should've stuck with JetBlue. As a matter of comparison, when I check Twitter for "jetbluesucks" I see less than a page of results, all but one of which just come from one account. Comparatively, southwestsucks has page after page after page and even its own website.

I urge all travelers out there to avoid Southwest Airlines, and I recommend JetBlue as an alternative.

I think Southwest is not quite as friendly as it likes to portray itself....About 2 years ago I purchased an upgrade for boarding position, because it was a long flight, totally full, and I was very tired from travelling. Since that day I have received terrible boarding positions, despite checking in 24 hours to the second before flight time, traveling to and from many different cities, on both direct flights and with multiple legs. I have seen multiple posts that claim the same thing. Even with all of Southwest's explanations, this has happened to me EVERY SINGLE TIME. I am ashamed to say since I travel for work and am often pressed for time, I do end up paying for upgrades very often.
I guess I am as much to blame. If I keep paying extra, they will keep expecting me to. This is slimy and I would not be surprised if a class action lawsuit were to happen in the next year or so.

Their ability to be late is uncanny. I am averaging over 75 percent late flights with SW this year. I have another flight tomorrow... Wonder if that one will keep the trend going.

When I got home at midnight and opened my suitcase there was not one piece of clothing that was dry. All of the papers inside were soaked and stuck together. The luggage sitting in the rain was clearly visible from the terminal and yet nothing was done. What kind of management allows this insanity to happen??

Seriously, I can not remember a Southwest flight that has been on time for me. I was on over 50 SW flights last year, and I had a string of 8 flights in a row, severely delayed. All 8 flights had non functioning wireless. This year, 2019, I have not been delayed by Delta or Spirit (for gods sake), but I am less then 25 percent on time with Southwest (31 flights). Its time for a change.

Our flight was expected to leave at 4:20 - then delayed to 4:50. Then delayed to 7:30 and then again to 8:00. Again now to 8:50.

Meanwhile, the Denver airport is operating normally. Flights including SW flights are arriving and departing on schedule.

How can SW operate in this manner without scrutiny from government agencies? There is nothing in the way of information coming from SW. Their contempt for their customers is remarkable.

Who knows when I'll leave now. Had direct flights to and from Vegas, flight here delayed, switched planes, flight back just canceled. Got rebooked a day later, had to pay an extra night hotel, probably still have to do the same tonight. SW really sucks!

Yes we did fly out of Salt Lake only to be told prior to arrival that all of the Buffalo flights were cancelled (the night before) and we would have to wait for two days in Chicago or we could fly to Florida and fly to Buffalo the next day.
What BS...When we complained - Oh well - weather related - all expenses (Uber, meals and hotel) are on you.
But you know what - here is 100 dollar SW gift certificate - screw you!
SW sucks. Own up when you move passengers at your convenience to save money.

Had a 35 minute connection in St Louis...trying to get to my dads funeral in Des Moines, and joining my daughter on the St Louis to Des Moines flight, she was coming in from OKC. Flight was delayed an hour leaving Tampa(because of technical issues NOT weather) but they were going to make up time...we arrived at 11:10 for or 11:05 departing flight to Des Moines, there were 5 of us that needed to get on that flight, we ran to the gate, I arrived at 11:14, out breath said I'm here for the Des Moines fight, in the most rude voice ever, that bitch, (sorry gate attendant) says "you missed it" as she was texting!!!! My daughter texted me at 11:10 sitting on the plane saying she had told the stewardesses I was running over to the plane to make my dads funeral, they said, and I f%@k you not, " I hope he can run fast", mother f%@kers!!!! Here is the kicker, there are only 2 flights from St Louis to Des Moines each day, the next one is at 8:59 tonight...yep, for them to save 15 minutes, I missed my dads funeral and had to sit in the airport for 10 f%@king hours for the next flight...I have never written a bad review. Spoke with Southwest CSR prior to booking flights for my wife, daughter and two grandchildren. I was told that my two grandchildren could fly for free if they sat on laps. When they arrived at the airport, Southwest changed their story and forced my daughter to purchase a seat for her two year old daughter. This took $159 out of the vacation budget.

When contacted about return trip, Southwest insisted that she pay $195 for a return ticket for her two year old. Keep in mind that we paid $84 for the same flight when we booked the tickets. You would think Southwest would at least honor the same price when their CSR misadvised us.

We will never choose Southwest Airlines again.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter I did not realize needed her own seat, so I did not purchase her a ticket thinking she would ride on my mothers lap or friends because that’s is where she prefers to sit anyways. When I arrived at the airport on Tuesday they informed me that the southwest policy is kids need their own seat once they are past 2 and 14 days which I did not know. Which is not clear unless you ate Specifically reading the flying with children policy.
When I arrived at the airport to check in the woman at the front desk informed me of this policy and made me buy her a ticket which she was able to match at the price I purchased my ticket at. This woman that I thought was trying to “help me” noted on my account to insure I pay current fare price on my flight home for my daughter. My daughter is 2 1/2 years old & is unable to fly alone. I took this flight specifically because I have a friend to help me with my 9 month old son & daughter on my trip home. Now I am left paying $200 for her ticket home when I purchased mine at $84. The Southwest customer service could only offer me a half ass apology left with no other options.
I am so extremely disappointed. Southwest has lost a loyal customer. I rather pay the extra money and fly another airline that would respect this honest mistake. $350 dollars for a round trip flight I could have got for $88 on Frontier or $200 on JetBlue. #southwestsucks

Southwest Customer Service is horrible. I would give zero stars if I could. Flying out of Dallas on a rainy day, with most flights being delayed or canceled except for mine.

I called 3 hours prior to departure and was told my flight was still showing scheduled. I called an hour and a half prior to departure and asked if I could be rescheduled because the weather was bad and all other flights were being delayed or canceled. The rep said there was nothing she could do because the flight still showed scheduled.

So I checked my bags and went to the gate. 35 minutes before take off, they finally show the first leg of my flight delayed 2 hours, and now departing at 9pm. Totally missing my connection flight to Florida.

I immediately got in the long line to talk to the desk representative and I simultaneously called customer service. After 30 minutes on hold, the call was disconnected on their end. I finally got to the front of the line after a 45 minute wait.

I complained to the rep about my previous efforts to reschedule beforehand in anticipation of the exact situation. She said there was nothing she could do to but reschedule me for a flight that was much worse.

I get it, it happens, but I tell her I need my luggage which was checked because I packed my back medication. She informs me that since the first leg of my flight was rescheduled and not canceled, they cannot recover my bags.

UNBELIEVABLE! I was beyond angry.

I asked for the Customer Service Manager, Christina Garcia. She was equally if not more worthless. She told me there was nothing she could do to help, and I should not packed medication. To which I agreed, but I also should have been able to reschedule my flight when all other flights were being rescheduled. To which she agreed but still could not do anything for me.

I am very disappointed Southwest. I tried to avoid a bad situation and it felt like you guys tried to make it worse. Your customer service is useless. Never again.

I had the worst customer service EVER with Southwest Airlines!

First of all no information about the flight on any of the GATE display. All the displays throughout the airport were not SYNC-ed. So basically one display said the original scheduled time, while another display stated the delayed schedule which was not accurate all all.

There was an issue at the airport and nobody seem to be knowledgeable about the situation. I was able to learn from the news that there was an issue with the lights and 2 runways were shut down for maintenance. And NOBODY thought about checking the NEWS. I found out the media, not from the incompetent SW airlines representative.

Then I figured another flight from DCA which was 1.5 hrs away. Got on the call with customer service and asked to be reimbursed for the cost of travel with lyft / uber since the inconvenience and the fact that they could not guarantee that the airline will depart even at the delayed time. No such a thing.

I was on the phone with a representative of SW trying to switch planes but they were not aware of any status and send right back to the initial incompetent terminal folks.

I realized that there is no point on arguing with anyone so I just asked the SW representative to double check if I was checked in. I already checked in the morning so I was 100% sure but I could not find my initial Boarding Group. I know for a fact I was C1 and the idiot at the counter re-checked me in, on C29!

So thank you Southwest for nothing!

And thank you BWI Airport!

Entertainment doesn't even work on their international flights, or when flying over the ocean, until you get over US land. Even then, there are no free movies included ... and you can't even finish the one you paid for and started watching because the connection only worked for barely 90 minutes of a 3.5 hour flight.

And, low-and-behold, look what I found.So with that introduction, here I go: Our family is by no means frequent flyers, usually 2-3 times a year, however, we have flown nothing but Southwest since 2001. We recently flew DTW to PDX, with a connection in Denver. After our flight to PDX last year, Aug. 2017, I swore I would never fly SW again. Well, it seems I always end up "eating my words." After booking with Alaska Air in MARCH I discovered in JULY they had cancelled our flight for Sept., and not notified me. After going to my reservation to confirm it there was simply a message to call them. (I realize this is not a complaint site for Alaska Air, however, it seems all the airlines are becoming tyrants and we are left with no choices if we wish to fly.)They could/would not provide a flight to accommodate our needs so I, alternatively, went with Southwest, as that was the only affordable flight that late in the game. Big mistake ! Upon arriving in Portland we were left with a leaking duffel bag, filled with 3 shattered bottles of sticky wine. I went to their service desk in baggage claim and requested they file an incident report, explaining I didn't care about the wine, I was concerned with the mess, including the shards of glass, etc. and the safety of those in the area. They refused, saying I just wanted to sue them. What ? Over three
lousy bottles of wine ? (I might mention the bottles were in-dividually wrapped in 3 layers of bubble wrap.) Getting no assistance from SW or PDX we threw the entire bag into the
nearest waste container --- probably not a wise thing to do at an
airport. One would think that if the bag was leaking somewhere along the route they would have tagged it or put it in an accessory container before putting it on the baggage carousel.
I don't think it a coincidence that I was met by a less than friendly TSA agent, and pulled aside, upon my departure flight a few days later. Also, as others have mentioned, how does one check-in 24 hrs to the exact second, before boarding, and still
end up in the middle C's. Scam ! I paid for Early Bird check-in for
our flight last year and, same thing, C boarding !

Two or the agents were incredibily rude.. Then they sent an incompetent clerk down to assist, and she was no help whatsoever. We had a family cruise booked out of New Orleans and had to get there so we were forced to make the 14 hour journey by car. THEY WERE AWFUL, I've never been treated so badly by any airline ever. This airline might have weather delays, ATC holds, mechanical issues. This is an airline people just like any airline. This are not going to work out perfect in your little world. The other airlines will leave you stranded at different airports. Trust me I work for SWA . I don't understand as well when people get all up and arms about the bags not showing up to the final place of travel after all day of flying. Example when people start out in MDW to ATL to Dallas.. weather happens so route changes MDW to BWI to Dallas.. come one people many links have to be connected for bags to move to these flights. So example is when SWA takes bag reports depending on how far you live away it could be 30-60 dollars to deliver bags. If I was a paying passenger and the airline got me back home I would be damn glad to drive my ass back to the airport to pick up my own bags. To give another example SWA paid 20 million dollars on just deliver fees in 2017.... I can't wait until they start charging for bags just like all the other big boy airlines. So next time the airline gets you home take drive back to airport to pick up your bags. This will help you in the future not to have to pay 💰 bag fees and helps keeps ticket prices down...

The weather excuse is used because they don't have to pay compensation if they claim that. Needless to say, no other carriers canceled that date. Called customer service and they kept me on hold for 40 minutes (another sign SWA is going downhill). After waiting on plane on the tarmac for a while with our two kids (one is 1 the other is 4) they deplaned and were told the flight was cancelled. She was told the next flight to Spokane is Friday (three days from now) and no they will not pay for her hotel room (all the hotels the airline has an "arrangement" with are completely booked). She decided to take a flight to Seattle tomorrow (again they are not paying for hotel or food) and her mom will drive across the state and pick them up. I have no idea how Southwest thinks this is acceptable. They are willing to give us $200 credit for future flights, the only problem is I never want to fly with them again so credit is really kind of useless.

The other issue is that all airlines have gotten really great at filling the planes. In fact most flights I fly on are now totally filled with a wit list. This is great utilization....but the problem is when you are unreliable as SW lately, you have no way to help customers and they (me) have to sit in airports for days waiting for a seat.

I routinely fly STL to MDW and back several times a month. There is NEVER drink service for claimed “turbulence” though none is never experienced. The flight crew just doesn’t want the hostitutes to have to actually work. Shameful. Where’s Herb when you need him?

Flight canceled yesterday evening from Philly to Chicago. No reason given on the email I received. When I called Customer Service, they couldn't clarify why. They couldn't rebook me on a flight this morning, or book me with another carrier. This is not the airline it used to be. I'm just another $ sign to this business. Can you imagine if I had been traveling for a wedding or a funeral? I thought customer service was about trying to "put yourself in the shoes" of the person you are serving. Good luck to Southwest moving forward. I'll spend my flight dollars with other carriers.

Had to call to find out its cancelled due to weather in Boston, meanwhile I am sitting in Boston and its 75 and sunny without a rain cloud in sight and the forecast says the same with little to no chance of rain. Never ended up raining or even being windy. Multiple cases of similar complaints on this site. They are clearly scamming the system by canceling less profitable flights last minute and claiming weather so they can refund without repercussion. Customer service is a joke, avoid at all costs

Ok the first officer is in the air on another plane and he will be sitting in the cockpit on our plane in 10 minutes. I think the flight attendant should be drug tested or at least be trained on how long things actually take. So after and hour the first officer arrives. We are told he is in cockpit going over checklist. After another 15 minutes we are told that he had timed out. Really they didn't know this before he sat in cockpit. Not to worry though we have another first officer at the door. All will be fine. I will continue this once we actually get off ground. If we get off ground. Flight number 3361. July 22

For the last 3 years I have been a loyal SW customer.... They never have any direct flights to anywhere I travel for work but I still wouldn't book on other airlines who had direct flights because I convinced myself that their customer service made it worth it. Something has changed within SW over the last year. I fly 6-10 times a month, and I am not exaggerating when I tell you that the last 25 flights I have booked through SW have been delayed and/or canceled. regardless of what airport I am flying in or out of. I had a 2 day trip last week in which I spent 4 days trying to actually get home from due to this. Southwest employees all gave us different stories. First it was mechanical issues and we would be compensated, then it was weather so there would be no compensation. As all the passengers got angrier and angrier instead of that calm understanding service they used to offer, all anyone could say was "I can't control the weather, can you?" Every. Single. SW employee said that. And you know what that's cool, however you can't start out telling us it was mechanical issues and then change your story just to be extremely rude to your customers who are frustrated, tired,and can see out the window and watch EVERY OTHER AIRLINE take off and land in this so called bad weather. After that nightmare I told myself that that was it, no more Southwest.

And that brings me to today. I didn't listen to myself and I booked a flight home on SW because is was $150 cheaper than any other direct flight. IF YOU ARE READING THIS IT IS NOT WORTH IT. SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY JUST FOR YOUR SANITY's SAKE!!!! Again every SW flight is delayed/canceled due to weather. I am currently looking at a 2 hour delay, people are stranded, all the stores/restaurants in this airport are closed. The weather here is fantastic, the weather at home is fantastic and they have this awesome thing called dopler radar, so I can see that the weather between here and there is fantastic. I am sitting here watching Delta, Allegiant, Frontier, American, all of them, take off and land over and over and over and over again. What is SW doing, sitting here due to a weather delay. I'm currently sitting next to a group of SW flight attendants listening to them talk about all the OT they get due to these delays. I keep telling myself it's not really their fault, but Jesus, I feel as though I'm slowly losing my mind. So the moral of the story is... don't be like me.... don't fly SW.... don't listen to the commercials about how they love their customers, and always have the best service. They don't. I flew American on my way here on this trip and it was a much better experience. This is it for real. I will never ever book another Southwest Flight. They can take my A-List Preferred status and my 80,000+ points and shove them.

The costumer service at LaGuardia, if you want to call it that, refers us to Dallas. Dallas says it is up to the airport agents. Everybody passes the buck while trying to be as nice as possible. I must hold Southwest Gary C. Kelly responsible. This shit comes from the top down. I hope he gets his just rewards for his mere $5 million salary! On 7/6/18 flight was cancelled from Buffalo to Midway (continuing on to Houston). When I called and asked for another MDW connection, they told me that weather in Chicago was the problem and that I had to take one of the connections through Orlando. On this day, weather was 71 degrees, clear, 0% chance of rain, and 15MPH winds in Chicago (so obviously a lie) while weather in Orlando was nasty with severe thunderstorms. The flight I wanted to MDW not only arrived early, but arrived in Houston early, while the flight I had to book was late into Orlando due to weather and late into Houston.

I complained via email, and there response was that it is a difficult decision to cancel due to inclement weather. What inclement weather? The diverted us from clear weather in Chicago to inclement weather in Orlando.

It was obvious what the tactic was, all flights on Friday leaving Buffalo had availability. I don't really get worked up when a flight gets cancelled, but lying about, both on the phone and an email response is unethical and unacceptable.

Southwest has deteriorated in the last three or four years. They cannot get any flights on time if its late afternoon. While there can be many reasons, including poorly managed overburdened airports, in Southwests case it seems to be simply operational incompetence. For instance I fly weekly departing in the late afternoon from San Francisco (SFO) to San Diego (SAN). These flights are 30 minutes to 3 hours late over HALF the time. About every fifth or sixth week, Southwest will simply cancel the flight at the last minute with no explanation, no apology, and no replacement flights.

Called to ask about the promotion that was asked if I wanted to sign up for - Double Points. I said yes. I had already bought a ticket earlier that wasn't eligible. I understand and don't have a problem with that. However, I figured that I would go ahead and pay the WAY OVERPRICED business select for 4 times the amount and get a new reservation with that. Well - now that I am back, I am told that I didn't cancel the other reservation and rebook - so I don't get any bonus points. Oh - by the way, asked to speak with a manager - and was told that there is no one with a higher authority than her. I said OK, how about doing a one-time courtesy - NOPE. Won't do anything for you. I guess, I will cancel my Chase southwest c.c. as well.

Absolutely tired of getting pathetic service from them. Sure miss Herb and Colleen.

However, this flight was with my wife on our honeymoon. Asked them to assign us an A thru 15. Was told, no. You must pay 160 dollars. Wow, really? As a result I couldn't seat with my wife. A month ago they delayed a 1820 flight from SAT to MKE until 2055. I get to the checkin at 1850 and find out they've now moved it back up to 1910. The earliest flight that they can get me is 0530 the next morning. So I book it and go home. I'm literally in the car and get an email that now they've delayed the flight *again* until 2055, so I could have made it. As a result, not only did I lose over $500 in wages, we had to pay someone else $750 (time and a half) to cover the hole. So $1250 right there.

Last week, I had a flight from SAT to MKE through HOU. Flight is delayed from 1820 to 1855. I'm literally twenty feet from the gate eating dinner. They move the flight back up from 1855 to 1830, and change the gate. No notification through the app. No phone call. No audible announcement. When I go up to the gate, I'm told they're in final boarding but they "made multiple announcements." They're no good if you can't hear them, folks.

The return flight was a nightmare. MKE-ATL-SAT. Weather in ATL forced a diversion to Birmingham where the plane sat there and was refueled, then sent back to ATL. They delay my connecting flight from 2105 departure to 2135. I'm literally on the tarmac waiting for the ground crew to move the jetway and the cattle herd to get off the plane when they decide to go ahead and release the connecting flight. I get to the gate as it's pushing back. So I have to arrange passage through Austin. I ask the gate clerk what is going to happen with my bags and they say that there's no time to get them on the Austin flight.

I then sit there in line at the counter for the Austin flight for twenty minutes while the plane doesn't board. This gate clerk tells me that there's no way that they can get the bags on the plane because "they'd have to find them." So the plane boards. Then sits there for over 50 minutes while they wait for two people from some other delayed connecting flight to board.

So why couldn't they have held my first flight for 5 minutes more? Why couldn't they have used the 50 minutes they were sitting at the gate to get my bags on the plane?

So I fly into Austin, have to get a rental car ($175), can't get my car out of the San Antonio garage because the keys are in my checked baggage, and am still sitting here at 10am the next morning while they can't figure out where the hell my bags are. Hell, I don't even have a toothbrush, razor, or clean clothes for God's sake.

My company will no longer do business with Southwest Airlines. Their "transfarency" has cost my company over $4000 in lost wages, unreimbursed rental car expenses, time and a half for people to cover my medical practice while I'm stuck in limbo not once but twice,

Oh wait.. nevermind, we didn't get your stuff in time, looks like you just wasted money and missed your international flight. My most recent interaction with Southwest was a security hold on my Rapid Rewards plan. The reason? I changed my email address. You know, from Yahoo to something more secure. Because I did not use my name on my email address, I was considered potentially fraudulent.
I did not notice this hold until I tried to use my miles. I've been flying for 9 months, 5-6 trips, and now can't use my miles. They want me to scan my id and email it to them. Let's talk about a not-secure way to verify my id. It endangers my identity, opening it to id theft. They will not accept me going to the airport and showing them there. This is the only way they will release the hold. Of course, Homeland Security has been verifying my id for a year at the airport...fun times with Southwest.

Southwest is not family friendly. If you’re traveling with your kids or group of people, you will have to fly business class or pay for the early bird check in. I flown 3 times with southwest and checked in the exact second after the 24 hour check in opened and still got B30 or higher boarding in each flight. I have an 8 year old and 9 year old so I don’t qualify for family boarding (child 6 or under). Flying this airline is just flat out stressful. The open seating is just too stressful trying to keep my family together and not having to sit without my kids. It seems like a big problem that many are complaining about so why can southwest keep their boarding order policy but just assign seating. If I pay business class fairs or early boarding fees, I should just pay the little extra to fly with another airline that doesn’t charge $8 for WiFi and has better inflight snacks and entertainment like seat back televisions. By the time you pay for the early boarding fees, the cost equals out for the price of the other less stressful airlines. Also, is it just me or are southwests airplains older Boeing 737s that they just put fresh paint on the outside to appear newer? I’ll never fly southwest again.

We used to fly from Seattle to Salt lake and there was always some non stop options available but when they started flying to Denver, San Fran...etc prior to SLC With no non stop option ,taking 5-8...

So I have to go and find my reservation number and fill in their stupid form to check in. How bassackwards is that? And then I check in and it tells me I have to go to a computer to print out my boarding pass. Want to check flight status? SOL. Gotta do the same damn thing. It's like they don't even know you have a reservation with them. And notifications about your flight? Forget about it. One flight got delayed, changed gates, and then moved up - I finally got a text about the gate change about five minutes after I had boarded the plane. Today I never got an email or text to check in for my flight tomorrow. Seriously, it's been like this for years and years. They absolutely do not care about their app. Don't even get me started about the one time I had flight from Dallas to Houston that they took off even though they knew storms were hovering over Houston. Ah, hell, you got me started. Mind you DAL to HOU is less than an hour flight. But they took off anyway. And then they couldn't land, because SURPRISE there are storms in Houston. So they divert to Austin. Oh wait. Every other flight diverted to Austin and Austin is full now. So they go back to DAL. And guess what, they cancelled the flight and said it was now a flight to Harlingen (I guess they needed the plane in Harlingen and didn't care about dropping 95% of the paid customers in Houston.) So, they tell everybody not going to Harlingen to get off the plane and find their own damn way back to Houston. If I didn't live in Houston, I would avoid SWA like the plague that they are.

I flew southwest for the first time last week. The flight was an abortion. The ass backwards no assigned seats policy is a total disaster. People were trying to save seats for friends and loved ones in spite if the retarded policy. Confrontations were breaking out left and right because people were fighting over seats like children on a school bus. When the plane landed the flight attendants told everyone to stay seated until instructed otherwise. I knew something was wrong. About 15 minutes into this "forced" stay in your seats order people began getting restless. The only thing you could hear passengers saying was" we are already pulled up to the terminal entrance so why the hell can't we get off the damn plane". All of a sudden two Air Marshals/Police were walking up and down the aisle trying to find someone. Eventually they found the person they were looking for and then escorted the person off the plane in handcuffs. This was not a big deal. Once they located the person they were looking for he willingly cooperated and there was no disruption whatsoever. The problem was the Air Marshals could not find the person because there was no assigned seats. They kept going up and down the aisle asking to see peoples's IDs so they could identify the person they were looking for. During this ordeal I heard one of the Air Marshals say " Why is this f%@king South West the only airline that does not have assigned seats".

On March 1st, I was supposed to be on the flight scheduled at 6 am. Southwest cancelled my flight and didn't give me a text to my phone even though I checked in using my phone number 23 hours before the scheduled flight. I went to the airport and found out that the flight was cancelled last night. They offered to put me on the second earliest flight which would be at 12:55 pm. Then that flight was delayed until 5 pm on the same day. I needed to be at Dallas before noon so I asked one of the people at Southwest customer service to be on the standby list for the flight at 10:55 am. And there were 4 people behind me but they skipped my turn and put the other 2 first. I know that because one lady who put me on the standby list said that I was on the standby list before the person who was standing in line in front of me. Another lady came who came after said to the lady that to give the seat on standby list to the person standing in front of me. I was on the standby list and stayed right next to their booth but they never call my name. The next person they said that she was at the airport since 5:30 am but didn't tell me where she at on the standby list. Well, I was at the airport since 6 am. Then they made an excused saying that the flight would get there at 12:15 and it would be past the time I needed to be there. I told them that 15 mins different would be okay. Then the lady who came after she got mad at me. She brought my ticket to the gate and told me to follow her. Then she told the people there that to put me on the flight and DO NOT put my luggage on the flight because it was too late. Then i got in the flight but 2 minutes later they also put the person who was at the airport since 5:30 on. When I got off the flight, I went to get my luggage and she got her luggage but I did not. I had to wait until 7 pm for the delayed flight to get to Dallas. Is it because I'm Asian and all the other people that they skipped before me white? That was the worst flight experience hapenned to me. I will never flight with South West again.

I always make a-list preferred and usually make companion pass and have regularly been flying SW for years (5+). Historically, service has been great, convenient, and reasonably priced. However, I am not sure what has happened, maybe I am getting older and have less patience for the BS. Perhaps, it’s the constant barrage of families with crying children, what seems to be always the crappiest terminals and choices, the WORST wifi in the sky or perhaps its the old decrepit archaic cattle call boarding process, but I’ve had it. They’ve neglected their processes and systems with now noticeable improvement, and that’s unfortunate because they had something great, once upon a time.

I am actually willing to pay more to have a seat assignment, have a better in flight experience, have the option of a red eye, better terminal experiences at every airport I’ve come in contact with, and risk the falling good to mediocre in-flight service.

So now I am going to speak with my wallet.

Was Flying out of San Diego International Airport. At gate 10 there was a disagreement with my emotional support animal, agent "Jason" Employee number " 72932 " asked me to pay for my animal due to not having my paperwork on hand. I gladly complied and paid for my animal again because I only have my electronic paperwork for my health documentation which has been denied in the past so i did not even bother asking if they would take an electronic copy. The ticketing agent lady noticed my frustration and did the best she could to keep a calm demeanor to the situation. I returned to the gate mumbling under my breath after having paid for the extra ticket.

Ticketing agent took my pass and I was mumbling under my breath as i was in the passenger tunnel to board. Was going to take a picture of the agent but my phone was without battery at the moment. As I was compliantly boarding my plane the ticketing agent stops checking customers in, leaves his podium, enters the passenger tunnel and with hostility yells "Excuse me do you have a problem!!?" Besides the embarassment at having to get talked to differently than the rest of the passengers "Jason" was talking to, I turned around in the boarding tunnel because I felt threatend as opposed to being asked an honest question, and responded that "Yes I do have an issue, I have an issue with your attitude with me after I followed your requests and paid for my emotional support animal."

Jason proceeds his reign of ticketing agent power and walkie talkies for his supervisor to come to the gate. Then he looks at me and says "You are not following airline procedure and I did not allow you to take video of me!" WELL ALL OF A SUDDEN HE STOPPED PROVIDING CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BEGAN WITH A MALICIOUS INTENT TO DO WHAT WAS WITHIN HIS CAPABILITIES OF DOING WHICH WAS DELAYING MY BOARDING OF THE FLIGH TO MISS IT. Problem #1, I believe he was trained better than that. But when he asked me if I had an issue but proceeded to accuse me of "not following procedure" to his supervisor then you actually have an issue with me and you are disregarding a paying customers intent to peacefully board a flight, as i was ORIGINALLY DOING BEFORE HE WRONGFULLY ACCUSED ME OF RECORDING HIM.

Supervisor arrives (ill leave her name out because she was just doing her job and providing a run around for the agent to eventually exit the situation and not be there to be questioned) and she asks me whats going on. I tell her what happened. Jason looks at me and closes the boarding door without checking in on us, after I had complied with his requests and after I and my emotional support animal had been allowed to board. Supervisor proceeds to say that she did not want me to board because she did not want me to be in an enclosed space. WHY THANK YOU I DID NOT KNOW I WAS CLAUSTROPHOBIC AS WELL AS HAVING PTSD, GOOD LOOKING OUT MAM MUCH APPRECIATED!!

She reschedules me for a flight two hours later that end up getting delayed. So now my emotional support animal needs to be in his carrier for hours on hours that were not planned for. This was the most ridiculous flight experience i have ever encountered. Thanks Jason!

This Airline sucks. They were having a fare sale last summer $59 for a one way ticket Seattle to Sacramento in Sept. I bought the ticket. I got up early the day before the flight at 6 AM so that I can check in and get in the A group. I tried several times and was not able to check in. so I called customer service and they said the flight was changed to 10:30 AM over two months ago. She said they normally notify the passengers, but for some reason then failed to notify me. I told her I cannot leave at 10:30 because I have a meeting at 9. So I got a refund and had to use my Alaska miles to purchase a new ticket. It cost me 30,000 Alaska Air miles to get a one way ticket. If I wanted to pay for the ticket, it would have cost $360, so I used miles. Normally, a one way ticket would only cost me 7500 miles, but because it was the day before the flight it cost me 30,000 miles.
I informed Southwest that their error cost me an additional 22,500 Alaska Air miles and asked for compensation. They gave me a $75 travel voucher. I told them that was not fair compensation. Even if you price each leg between Seattle and Sacto at their lowest price, $60, four legs would be worth $240. They paid me $75, so I asked for an additional $165. They refused. I wrote a letter to the CEO a rep called me and refused again. I wrote another letter to the CED and they called again and apologized but refused additional compensation. I was not asking for cash. I told them they can give me cash or another voucher for $165, the cheap shit mother f%@kers would not budge, so I have to absorb the loss.

On the way back from Houston a 4 days later he was diverted to Albuquerque International Sunport due to a navigation computer issue, he was on the ground 13 hours because the crew had maxed out on fly time and SWA dosn't have extra crews in ABQ, this is the 3rd time he's been diverted due to a mechanical or computer issue in the last 5 months.

He says he would rather book on Frontier or Delta than deal with the extra hassle of SWA.


I Personally refuse to fly Southwest I usually find a cheaper fair on American, Frontier, or United and they have assigned seats.

They have someone whose soul job is to arrange travel for the AIRPORT managers in SEA, as far as the FAA Controller, all they have to do is show their CONTROLLERS ID at the gate and the SOUTHWEST gate agents arrange their travel and let them on the plane.. It's Called "Flash and Dash" it is ILLEGAL.. Southwest has done this for years! They get special handling from the Controllers, and pretty much what ever they want from the Airport Authorities. This is NOT just a SEA issue.

Southwest cancelled my flight with 24hrs notice. They sent an email, but there was no information for who to call or how to reschedule. In the email, they wrote that I qualify for a refund for any unused portions of my trip - how generous.

I then called to reschedule but the customer service rep tells me that my flight actually isn't cancelled (2hrs after the original email). I check the website and, indeed, the flight is still on the schedule. The customer service rep tells me that maybe there were multiple people with my email address and I got their notification (this is insane!).

So I go to check in a few hours later, but my flight was actually cancelled. Its bizarre that an automated email would be sent out before an automated website is updated. It's like the IT dept tried to design a system that would sow the most confusion as possible.

11/5/17 SWA flight 4479 departing STL to DEN was cancelled shortly after plane arrived at STL. Ticket counter claimed is was weather and said there was no other direct flight available until 11/7. ...

11/5/17 SWA flight 4479 departing STL to DEN was cancelled shortly after plane arrived at STL. Ticket counter claimed is was weather and said there was no other direct flight available until 11/7. They said the only way to get home was to fly to Tulsa that night and stay the night on our dime, then fly home 11/6 late evening. We took the flight to Tulsa paid for 2 hotel rooms out of our pocket due to size of group. Finally home 11/6 8pm after over $400 in room, meal expenses, and incidentials as all our bags were checked and we could not get them back without missing Tulsa flight. We spent over 24hrs living out of backpack with only the clothes on our back without even a sorry from SWA.

Found out that the flight was cancelled due to inbound "Crew Restrictions" and SWA did not have another crew to fly the remaining. This is not a "Force Majeure" factor and SWA should have covered all passengers incurred lodging and meals costs for this cancellation!

If you were on this flight contact customer relations 1-855-234-4654 option 5 and demand compensation!

The flight crew on the 11/5 SWA #166 STL to Tulsa was more than awesome giving us extra food and drinks to try to help. They were great even though the rest of SWA experience sucked at STL on 11/5/17.

I arrived at an airport a few hours before my departure. I hardly ever fly SW so this is a farily new experience. I went up to the counter to check in. The lady there said another flight to my destination was leaving in (something like) 45 minutes, would I prefer to be on the earlier one? I thought why not? She replied that was good because the earlier flight was less then half filled but mine was over-sold, and they would have to be giving out vouchers. As she printed up my ticket she said: "that will be $297. Shocked, I asked could she repeat, and she stated it was the price of the earlier flight minus what I paid for mine. I wasn't about to pay a penny, and told her forget it, I would wait for mine. I saw the earlier one take off, with about 30 people on it, and on mine, they handed out three (3) THREE HUNDRED DOLLAR vouchers for those that were kicked off the over-sold flight. What!?!?!?!? What kind of business practise is that!?!?!? First, trying to get money out of me for the earlier flight.... OK, if the price is more for that one I choose to wait, no issue, but to pay people on the over-sold flight instead of covering the cost of me going earlier? What a messed up organization.

As a current Southwest Airlines employee that has worked in three different departments I can tell you that Many of the management staff and leaders are assholes. I am a ten year employee that has had to jump through hurdles my entire career And this is not just me it is many of them employees that I have worked with that feel the same way. The benefits are great but the leadership has changed in recent years. Things have changed since herb stepped down I don’t know if corporate knows about these changes or if the only thing they care about is keeping the stock prices up. The problem is they get you locked in when you look for another job you are starting all over again. It is definitely a hostile environment and they are quick to pull the trigger on you but the man that you provide The highest level of service to the customers or LUV as they call it. I truly care about my customers but don’t feel that the management cares about me they are quick to turn on you even over things that are not your fault. I understand why many people are tired of the lack of service and feel it trickles down from bad call center leadership and airport leadership. The supervisors are all new young guns following the demands of the old heads there needs to be changed many of the managers are 20+ year employees that forgot what it’s like to be a human being and are driven by numbers not by the people. You can have the best 401(k) and great flight benefits but when people are miserable at work because of the way they are treated they are going to lose the site that the customer is the most important part of the company and this is very sad. My apologies to all of you that experience unfortunate mistreatment. As long as I am an employee and who knows how long that will be I will provide the best customer service possible and apologize for the ones who don’t.

Out of the 4 flights one was so old and filthy I felt like I was on the ghetto bus in New Orleans back in in 1950s. My father used to work for TWA as a lead mechanic, when I told him this, and that looking out of my window the engine mount was lifting up loose from the top of the wing, he laughed, and said "There is no excuse for this, but that is what you get when you fly cheap. Some airlines don't even have ground crews at all airports and depend on other airlines if there is a suspected problem." So don't fly cheap fly one of the big airlines.

So we spent almost $200 on train tickets to get from Philly to BWI so we wouldn't waste 3 days of a one week vacation. They still have yet to take responsibility for completely screwing up, no meal or drink vouchers and no apology. One customer service rep blamed the traveler for not coming 2.5 hrs prior to boarding when we were standing in a 2+hr line for rebooking and between PHL and BWI they cancelled or had serious delays. Also- nice try blaming the weather when the other airlines weren't even close to cancelling what SW cancelled. I didn't even get a notification of the first delay until 30 min prior to when we were supposed to board. Next time I think I'd rather just pay for my bags. It's one thing to completely screw up, it's another to lie about it and blame your customers. Maybe they should go back to just flying the southwest direction, you're not Delta or United and clearly you'll never be up there either.

Incredibly disorganized airline. I had a flight cancelled at a connection city despite them ensuring me 3 hours before that it would NOT be cancelled and it would just be delayed. They have a Customer Service Commitment on line that states that if for any reason they do not perform as scheduled you can get a refund on the remainder portion of your flight. My flight costs close to $850 and had 3 of 4 flights so I assumed I could get back about 200 dollars and I purchased another ticket from a different airline as they were so disorganized that they could not accommodate me for a full day (and they have no affiliated airlines so you are stuck with only SW flights). The customer service rep stated that the remaining portion of my equal distance 4 flights with one remaining was $5. She stated that the only remaining balance were the taxes???? She could not explain this to me and the same flight was selling for $433.

Southwest customer experience is dropping like a red balloon. Short of flying their buses head first into the earth, they could not do a worse job. I'm supposed to be in Chicago this weekend... just as I was supposed to be in Chicago a few weekends ago. But alas, Southwest cancels the flights and has no ability to re-book. I'm an A-Plus preferred customer - but it means nothing more than getting boarding position #21 as opposed to maybe position #34 (and when the flights don't go, does boarding position really even matter?). Southwest absolutely sucks. On another recent disastrous flight with Southwest, I spoke with customer service (all they do is apologize - but their apologies ring hollow because nothing changes). The customer service representative actually responded to my complaints by saying "but sir, we're still really good on the west coast". Really??? Beyond the stupidity of that reply, it also tacitly acknowledges that their service level everywhere but the west coast is not good. As for last night, they finally canceled our flight from Newark to Chicago at 1am in the morning (it was scheduled for 9:55pm). Further, they plane was still sitting in Chicago, so they must have known for some time that the crew would become ineligible, but kept us at the airport most of the night. While southwest cannot control weather events and certain FAA constraints, they can control the quality and effectiveness of communication (toddlers communicate better) and they can structure their operations so that every fly on their jet windshields doesn't cause their entire grid to collapse. Southwest needs to go bankrupt - put those people out of work and let another airline get into Chicago midway... perhaps a new airline staffed with people that are more innovative and willing to work smarter/harder.

I am former unsatisfied Southwest customer as of this morning. I should be in Vegas now but because of the weather and more importantly incompetent resource allocation management of the Southwest management at BWI Airport I am not going this weekend at all . They kept us at the gate for 3 hours and offered little details or professional courtesy that they used to be known for before they became too big. I finally heard about the flight being canceled not from a human being but by email alert on my phone. They also said good luck getting booked on our oversold overbooked flights for later today. I no longer trust Southwest and will not if I can help it fly with them again. Air travel has become more of a hassle to me then it is worth . With the news stories about several of the other airlines and the way they treat people I guess Soutthwest has now joined the big boys as jerks and have said screw customer service.

OK so I go hungry . People are being polite about my wheelchair and getting me onto the plane. UNTIL!!!

The attendant tries to take my frickin CANE away from me. They want it in the overhead bin. Theguy is a real asshole about it to. I get snarky backtalk from him. When I point out to him that I can't stand safely without it he tries to tell me the FAA prohibits canes. Which is bull - I ALWAYS travel with a cane and have, over the years, witnessed hundreds, if not thousands, of similarly equipped passengers. I have NEVER seen a cane confiscated and indeed on leg 1 of this trip no one batted an eyelash at mine. And I sat on the aisle on that flight as well.

He told me I could only keep it if I collapsed it (It does NOT collapse but without it , *I* certainly do).

I refused to give it up and he finally forced me into a window seat where I will now present a MUCH MUCH greater inconvenience to my seatmates when I am forced to crawl over them CANE and ALL in order to get to the bathroom. multiple times. Because side effect of metformin.

Thanks, Southwest. Now we know you hate fat people AND crippled people.

I have reached a point where I may book a one-way flight from Oakland and then rent a car to drive back to the Bay Area. At least I could depend on the rental car. Had you departed on time, 180 valued customers would not have had to sit at the end of the runway in that storm for another hour. Had you departed on time, 180 valued customers would not have hit that wind shear at Indy. Had you departed on time, 180 valued customers would not have been low on fuel. Had you departed on time, 180 valued customers would not have been diverted. Had you departed on time, 180 valued customers would not have all been abandoned in Cincinnati. (P.S. it was also a nice touch that you left an unaccompanied minor alone and in tears.) Had you departed on time, 180 valued customers would not have been left to roam the Cincinnati airport directionless and without information or guidance. Had you left on time, I would not have had to rent a car to get myself home in order to take medication for a chronic health issue. Due to this epic fail, and the unsatisfactory "customer relations" experience I had this morning, I will no longer be flying on Southwest. July 21, 2017 Flight from Portland delayed takeoff because the pilots iiPad wasn't working, so they could not take off. WTF? Since when do they depend upon tablets to fly an aircraft? Because of this ineptitude, we hit thunderstorms in Denver, circled the airport until we almost ran out of fuel, and were diverted to a dinky little airport in NW Nebraska. Sat on the tarmac for an hour, waiting to refuel. After that lost hour, the pilot announced we had to "wait for refueling" and "paperwork" (perhaps that pesky iPad not working again? SMH) which took another hour! He kept saying "10 more minutes". The two hour flight wound up taking 9 hours. They finally arrived in Denver, but of course, almost everyone missed their connecting flights. It was total chaos as hundreds tried to rebook. The so-called "Customer Service" representatives movedT at glacial speed. Denver is out in the flatlands, one hotel (fully booked of course) so we are stuck in this absurdly provincial airport:?nothing open, no food anywhere. Haven't eaten for over 13 hours. We personally stuck until 4 PM waiting to get a flight out of here; I have heard even worse from oher customers who can't get oyt until Sunday! There are children, senior citizens, handicapped folks all trying to rest on this filthy airport floor. I asked for cots for at least the kids and old folks, to which they responded, "we have none." End of. No apologies, no compassion. Southwest was once a decent airline. Those days are over; they are just another crappy money-grubbing company who pretends to be concerned about their customers. Never again. Update: it is now 3:00 A.M and a Southwest lackey just handed out cans of warm water - gee, that makes up for everything! NOT

I SWEAR they have been trained to do so...because they had me asking all the questions as they sat there silent..."you wanna do whaaaaaa?" Me.."book a flight using my credits". SW.."you have credits? What do you mean credits....like a voucher or something?" This went on for days as I had to hang up due to not having enough time to wait for a half hour callback and then argue with the agent over a half hour. I got so frustrated that I hung up and call back next day. Worse then! Flights had all jumped up in price AND agent couldn't get my codes to work. I hung up...went online and got codes to work just fine....but prices had now jumped a THIRD time. Agent said she would hold seat, but not price. I called...on hold half hour and phone hangs up. Just got through again after small wait and agent played dumb game with me (saying they have no idea what credits I have) but plugged in my codes....they worked...and I'm ok. She was also able to give me price I was quoted when I started....meaning that they CAN ADJUST PRICES because she did it for ME..I'm just pissed it took up so much of my time and shouldn't have. I know I have lots of credits from cancelled flights, but no idea how much because there are no records of anything. MAKE SURE you treat your SWA account like a bank ledger cuz they are going to play dumb and hope you screw up.

So damn hard to get direct flights out of DAL for some f%@king reason, always have to connect in HOU but that's a gripe for another time. Anyway standard weather delay in DAL put me behind 1 hour, but connection in HOU had some wiggle room. So by the time we fully boarded in DAL, or at least appeared to be based on typical procedures of the flight attendants, the plane still sat there on the tarmac for close to another half hour w/o announcing why. Then like hobos one at a time but not all at once unfortunately, a bunch of last minute stragglers, either coming from another delayed flight or standbys became wobbling in. A half hour mind you! Putting my chances of meeting my connection in HOU at risk. So sure enough this delay in loser Dallas forced me to miss my connecting flight and have to spend a night in a hotel at my own expense and diversion of flight destinations because of availability issues. wtf? So they announce quite firmly connections are never guaranteed but yet here they are in Dallas holding up the departure of a flight and putting everyone with a connection at risk for a handful of stragglers. Again, wtf?? Did ,my connection in HOU do that for me and a few others? NO! Something's wrong w/ that pic. Calling to bitch today.

The state they have "transfarency" but they won't let you use your credits for most anything and you have to have every detail of the refund to use the credit. You cannot have them simply look it up under your name or Rapid Rewards number. The LUV vouchers are a joke as well. I travel constantly for work so I am an Aplus rewards member with companion status due to all the travel and flights I take for work. When my wife and I travel for pleasure (rarely) I cannot use any of my credits or LUV vouchers I received for being a loyal customer because I use my points and she flies companion. Tried to use the credit or vouchers for her to get early check in so we could board close to each other but even though the policy doesn't state you cannot use them for early check in they refuse to let her use it.

They say if you reach the 110,000 point limit in the calendar year then you will get your pass, but then they do not tell you that the only points that count are the ones that appear on credit card statements in the calendar year. So, I needed a little over 4,000 points at the end of 2016 and did what I needed to by December 31. BUT, they appeared on the January statement and were not counted... Southwest falsely advertises on all their emails that points accrued in the calendar year will apply for the Companion Pass... They lied, and they know it, and I discovered that this is not the first time. There was a Class Action against them for this FRAUD back in 2015 filed by Cory Couch...

Wanted family of 5 to fly out 48 hours after original flight. Unwilling to reroute through alternate route despite available space. Happy to refund money and charge us 2400 for alternative flight. Absolutely crazy SW service attendant at okc airport. In 44 years I've never met anyone like her...I literally think she might not be mentally stable. With literally hundreds of flights, this is the very worst service experience...EVER! (In the interest of being balanced, the flight crew from okc to dal was great.)

Right now flight aware is reporting "clear skies, light winds and no major airport delays" at stl and RdU is just as good. Either the flight wasn't full and you dumped it OR your plane was somewhere else.

No explanation of what to do next and hotel costs a loss, time off schedule gone. After several calls it's revealed Southwest had paperwork errors that resulted in cancelled flights. No offers for compensation for the disruption. Just agents saying they can rebook flights for other days or refund... with no comp for lost hotel costs or work disruptions. So that's it. You book vacations on Southwest and can be screwed by their own admin errors with zero compensation available to you. You bear all the financial risk at Southwest. #southwestsucks

I interviewed with SWA for an IT leadership role. They have always been my least favorite airline, due to their cattle call, and faux status as a low cost carrier. Still, I decided to entertain the role, as they are a local employer to my hometown of Dallas, in spite of current coworkers telling me that the IT work environment too aggressive and demanding.

I experienced pleasant discussions with the recruiter via phone. I arrived at my interview, where immediately I was met with a stone faced, resting angry mouthed hiring manager. I could see implicit bias in her behavior immediately, before I said a word. She felt completely inappropriate for management and hiring in general; someone who might have been technically competent, but did not belong in people management.

I was asked ignorant questions, such as; tell me about the most embarrassing moment in your career (I am well studied on the STAR interview technique; experts agree that this is not a useful question). I asked her to describe the departmental culture. Her response was that everyone is aware of SWA’s culture, and that they are very nice people, even when they’re showing you the door when fired, laughing toward the recruiter, seeking agreement.

I graduated at the top of my class in graduate school; not a dimwhit. My questions around culture were intended to gain understanding about the internal behavior, given their recent systemwide failure due to lack of disaster recovery planning, and ongoing poor negotiations with pilot and crew unions. External culture is a phenomenon they manufacture for customers, not always salient within the internal working environment.

I am not aggravated in the least around a lack of mutual fit. I interviewed with several other companies, including American Airlines, where an agreeable good fit did not exist, prior to securing my next professional challenge. My irritation is about flippant behavior before I said a word that continued to the extent that I almost terminated the interview.

Given my experience, their operational failures, poor interactions with pilots and operations crew, and intent to monopolize Love Field at the competitive pricing expense of Dallas travelers, I do not like the dissonance between their external appearance, and internal turmoil. This is not a place I want to work.
